Greetings! I'm Debbie Ridpath Ohi aka , author and illustrator of Where Are My Books? and I Want To Read ALL The Books, among others.
I have multiple goals for this blog, including:
Helping people find new ways to discover books
Helping boost these books
Helping boost the book boosters (librarians, educators, booksellers, book bloggers, etc)
Encouraging more book people people to join the ATmosphere.
I am actively looking for book bloggers, librarians, educators, and booksellers (who have an ATmosphere account)who will post:
A book cover image of a book you enjoyed reading and that isn't your own.
Book info (title, author, illustrator, cover designer, publisher, link to publisher book page etc).
A paragraph about why you liked the book.
A paragraph about how you discovered the book. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THE POST. Hoping your paragraph isn't just "I saw the title in the NY Times bestseller list" or "a friend of mine wrote it" but includes info that helps others re: book discovery.
A paragraph about yourself (and I encourage you to include a link to your own book blog, etc). Please don't make this paragraph longer than your "how I discovered the book" paragraph.
I will set up a template post for you -- all you have to do is type in the content. You don't have to be a tech whiz! However, you DO have to be comfortable with blogging basics.
You can see example posts here:
As We Fall Through Time, discovered by librarian
This Could All Go Bad by Spencer Hall, discovered by educator & book blogger
Neuromancer by William Gibson, discovered by bookseller
Contributor names will be added to the Contributor List.
Books will be add to the Book Discovery List.
"But I already have a book blog, don't have time for another platform..."
Please note that you do NOT have to join Leaflet or already be on Leaflet to contribute a one-off guest post. One of my goals is to help boost other people's book blogs.
Types of posts and books I am NOT looking for:
Posts about books that have any generative AI component (including the cover art).
Posts about books that will generate outrage, flamewar discussions, drama (either the book itself or your post).
Posts about books you haven't read, didn't finish reading, didn't like, or are not available for pre-ordering or purchase.
Posts that are basically just promo for your friend's book UNLESS you go into detail about steps taken to promote the book, whether or not each step worked e.g. make the post more of a how-to for those hoping for tips on how they can promote their own book, tips that go beyond the usual.
Reason: I lack the time to moderate. If this book blog becomes too much of a hassle for any reason, I WILL shut it down. It's one reason why I am only opening this up to educators, librarians, booksellers, and book bloggers for now. Thanks for understanding.
How to contact me:
Please use this form (not DMs) to let me know if you're interested. At present, I am only looking for contributors who have an Atmosphere account.
ALSO NOTE: This is NOT the place to ask me to promote your book or wanting to contribute a post about your own book. Thanks for understanding.
